Pea and Ham Soup

This is my go to soup recipe as it is so easy and we always have the ingredients in the cupboards.
It’s particularly good when you’re feeling a little low, and are indulging in sulking, which is what we were doing in our flat yesterday. As our lease is up soon, and our lovely little city apartment is feeling, well, little, we’ve been looking to upsize. After almost a month of religiously checking rental websites and coming up with nothing we found somewhere that on paper was perfect, and went to view it yesterday.
When the agent wrote ‘in good condition’ they had evidently overlooked the water damage in both the kitchen and the bathroom where a pipe had burst (which they couldn’t guarantee the owner would rectify). It was also far from being more spacious, it looked about the same size as our current place, but with an extra wall to make a second room.
So 2013 might not be the year we move, but if it’s not, it will be the year we add the final touches to our current home (trying to look on the upside). It also gives my obsessive pinning purpose. Here are a few of my favourite bits of inspiration:

Renting is a nightmare at the moment, I’ve been looking at approx prices, ’cause my lease is up this year and I really want to stay but I need to know how bad the rent rise could be (and it could be bad!). I hope you find somewhere but if you don’t that you have fun decorating. I love the bar idea but eventually decided that I just wouldn’t do the dusting required to make it usable whenever!
Darn I hadn’t thought about the dusting! I feel like I’m going to be renting forever!

We always look into moving, but never action it. We have a really good deal where we are.. although it is going up $10 in 3 months. Oh well. Love this soup. It’s one of Tylers favourites

Ugh, I remember those days of renting and trying to find a better place. We had a similar situation where the place seemed great online then we saw it and the kitchen was more of a room suggesting you could “cook” in it although it was missing a stove and the fridge was a vintage piece like a cabinet with barely enough room to fit 3 things. I’m a huge Pinterest fan and user! Love your pins. And I’ll be making this soup soon. It’s exactly what I’m wanting these cold days.
